Installation Instructions
Important Installation Guidelines
- Read entire instruction manual or installation instructions specific to your heater
before attempting installation.
- We recommend consulting an ABYC certified marine electrician for installation.
- The preferred method of wiring is to hardwire the heater’s power cord to an onboard
dedicated marine electrical system with a circuit breaker that is rated a minimum
of 15 AMP/120 Volt. This will preserve ignition protection and assure positive operation.
- For seasonal usage or boats without onboard electrical systems, an alternative wiring
method is to connect the power cord to a power source external to the engine compartment
to eliminate the potential of an electrical spark.
- Never use a plug inside the engine compartment for ANY reason.
- Mount the heater as low as possible in the engine compartment but above the water
line of the boat.
- Suggested mounting surfaces include fiberglass, metal or marine rated wood.
- Do not mount the heater directly on fuel tanks, water tanks or batteries.
- Do not mount the heater directly in front of bilge blower vents, even if the vents
are covered.
- Every heater comes with ½ inch stainless steel screws to facilitate mounting. Always
be aware of what is behind the mounting surface and check the screw length to make
sure they will not penetrate any critical structures such as the hull, fuel tanks
or batteries.
