Power
Question: How is the BoatSafe® heater powered and what power source should I use?
Answer: All BoatSafe® heaters run on 115 Volts with a 15 Amp circuit and must be grounded. It should always be plugged into a marine rated GFI circuit or wired into a marine rated onboard electrical system.
Question: Why didn't my BoatSafe® heater have a plug attached?
Answer: None of the BoatSafe® BSAT 750 Watt heaters have an attached plug because the preferred and the safest method of long term operation is to hardwire the heater’s 20 foot marine rated cable into your boat’s electrical system. BoatSafe, Inc. understands this may not always be possible; however, any marine rated plug will work with any BoatSafe® heater. Please read about ignition protection before adding any plug to any engine compartment heater.
Question: My BoatSafe® heater does have a plug attached or included in the box. Why?
Answer: Smaller boats have smaller electrical systems that may not be conducive to adding additional accessories. The BoatSafe® heater should be plugged into a marine rated GFI circuit external to the engine compartment..
